One Michelin Star still shines over Number One Restaurant

For an outstanding culinary experience, Michelin-starred number one is recognised as one of Scotland's best restaurants, with Chef Jeff Bland providing outstanding cuisine. He places emphasis on creative dishes whilst promoting the best of Scotland by using only the finest and freshest Scottish ingredients.

Number one restaurant has just won the “Fine Dining Experience” Award at the inaugural Scottish Restaurant Awards 2008. The judging panel agreed that number one restaurant offered its customers the ultimate sophisticated dining experience. All three finalists in the category were considered to be trend-setters as opposed to followers, offering clients the best of inventive gourmet food.

In addition, the team has received the following awards:

  • January 2008 - Jeff Bland and number one retain their Michelin star
  • January 2008 - The Balmoral Awarded a “Golden Service Crown 2008” by the EBC, Germany, for excellent service
  • October 2007 – number one restaurant’s Sous Chef, Kevin Sutherland awarded second place in The Craft Guild of Chefs’ Norwegian Seafood Recipe Challenge
  • February 2007 – number one restaurant’s Pastry Chef, Ross Sneddon awarded three bronze medals at ScotHot for petit fours, bread and shellfish
  • February 2007 - Sam Aitken, number one's Sommelier, awarded the Vintner's Bursary at the WSET (Wine, Spirits and Education Trust) Awards of Excellence, which is the top prize at the Advanced Level
  • February 2007 - The Balmoral picks up six awards and commendations at The Scottish Hotels of the Year Awards 2007  including :The Scottish Hotel Restaurant Special Commendation (number one); The Scottish Hotel Executive Chef Special Commendation
