Celebrate the Solstice with Number One's Midsummer Night's Dinner

Edinburgh’s leading Michelin-starred restaurant, number one and luxury drinks brand Moet Hennessy, will be celebrating the longest day of the year with a gourmet wine dinner on Midsummer’s night, 20 June 2008.

Number one is delighted to be teaming up with Moet Hennessy, who will be presenting wines from their brand new acquisition – Newton Vineyards in the Napa Valley, California, including The Puzzle, Newton’s flagship Bordeaux blend.

Jeff Bland, The Balmoral’s Michelin-starred Executive Chef and Head Chef, Craig Sandle, have worked to create an inspiring four course gourmet menu to accompany the Newton Vineyard wines, including a delicious selection of Scottish delicacies such as fresh local seafood and Border’s lamb.  

Gary Quinn, number one’s award-winning Manager commented: “number one has only recently re-introduced a series of special gourmet wine events, to the delight of our regular guests. So far the events have all been fully booked and it is really great to see the interest our customers have in learning about new wines. I am delighted that LVMH have chosen number one to showcase their new line of wines from California.”

This special evening will start at 7.00pm with a wine and canapés reception, followed by a sumptuous four-course gourmet menu in number one, with wines specially chosen for each course. The evening will be rounded off by a glass or two of Moet Hennessy’s signature whisky – Glenmorangie in one of the stunning castle view suites where guest can enjoy watching the sun set over the city on what will be the longest day of the year.
