Balmoral Voted Third Best Hotel in Europe
Edinburgh's landmark Balmoral Hotel has been voted third best hotel in Europe by readers of Celebrated Living, the luxury magazine for American Airlines' Premium Class passengers.
Almost 67,000 readers voted for their favourite hotels, spas, golf courses, cruises and destinations around the world. The Balmoral, which ranks third within the top ten European hotels, is the only Scottish hotel and one of two UK-based hotels to appear within the top ten. Notable highlights include 'well-appointed rooms overlooking Edinburgh Castle. Michelin-star dining's a plus.'
This follows closely on the heels of The Balmoral's previous accolade, awarded in April by Departures magazine, written for American Express Platinum cardholders as a luxury lifestyle magazine. The Balmoral was fourth within the top European city hotels and was, once again, the only Scottish hotel to appear within this category.
Since the launch of the 'New Balmoral' in March, following a £7 million refurbishment, the hotel has gone from strength to strength. Executive Chef Jeff Bland has ensured continued culinary success, since retaining his Michelin star earlier this year. In April, The Balmoral scooped two prestigious awards within the Food and Drink category, including 'The Scottish Hotel Restaurant of the Year' for number one restaurant and an 'Icons of Scotland' award.
In addition, The Balmoral has introduced a number of innovative ideas with an emphasis on creative service, to ensure the 'wow' factor. This includes the Bath Butler Menu, allowing guests to indulge in a luxury bath treatment, whilst sipping on a glass of champagne with chocolate-dipped strawberries.
Following successful sales missions to the USA and Europe, The Balmoral is currently enjoying a busy season and is looking forward to playing host to thousands of visitors over the festival period.
