The Balmoral launches its own-label Single Malt Whisky
Whisky connoisseurs can now savour the exquisite taste of Balmoral-labelled Single Malt Whisky in Edinburgh's most luxurious hotel.
Guests and visitors to The Balmoral can experience this Whisky in several ways: in the elegant surroundings of Palm Court Bar, by selecting the Malt for private events or through purchasing this in The Balmoral's Retail Outlet.
This initiative is in line with The Balmoral's key business objective - to provide a highly personalised service for its guests. The Whisky will also be placed in bedrooms during evening turndown service for all high-level VIPs, ensuring the perfect nightcap in true Scottish style. These special touches are synonymous with the high levels of service at The Balmoral, which recently scooped the Customer Care - Hotel of the Year accolade at the 2004 Scottish Thistle Awards.
The 12-year-old Glenallachie Speyside Single Malt Whisky was selected by David Austin, Wine and Spirits Buyer for The Rocco Forte Collection in the UK, following a series of tastings. The Balmoral attracts a high proportion of international leisure and corporate travellers, who are keen to taste a dram while visiting Scotland. Palm Court has recently increased its selection of whiskies by 42 per cent, including a diverse choice of Lowland, Highland and Islay malts, as well as adding The Balmoral's own Speyside Malt to the collection.
David Austin commented: "The Balmoral previously offered its own label of blended whisky, however I was keen to adopt a quality single malt, in a response to the growing demand for malt whisky in our hotel. By having our own label, we are showing our commitment to Scotland's whisky industry, whilst offering our guests a unique experience. This initiative is part of an ongoing process, to ensure The Balmoral is presenting a high-quality range of malts."
The Balmoral has worked with a local company, Largesse Corporate Gifts, who assisted in the selection and bottling process. Norman Brown, Managing Director, added: " It has been a real achievement for Largesse Corporate Gifts, to have assisted The Balmoral in selecting this high-quality malt, befitting such a prestigious brand."
