HIT Scotland Scholarship for Balmoral Sales Executive
The award ceremony, which took place on 10 February at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, was part of the Emerging Talent Conference, organised by the charity, HIT Scotland. For the last 10 years, HIT has sought to encourage and develop emerging talent within Scotland's hospitality industry by offering practical support through bursaries and work placements.
Kim was one of only 20 of the original 78 applicants who were awarded the prestigious scholarship. HIT Chief Executive, David Cochrane commented: "Kim demonstrated all the positive attributes that our industry needs. She was enthusiastic, committed to the industry, had a good sense of humour and her drive to reach her goals was tangible. This made her stand out against the rest of the applicants."
Kim will meet with the Committee within the next month, in order to discuss a tailored training programme. As a management applicant, Kim hopes to attend either the exclusive hotel training school in Lausanne, Switzerland or the Disney Institute, Florida.
Kim commented: " It is an honour to be recognised by HIT Scotland, and I am delighted to be awarded this accolade. I am passionate about the Scottish hospitality industry, and thrive in my sales role at The Balmoral. I look forward to further strengthening my skills and knowledge of this dynamic industry."
In addition, The Balmoral's Conference and Incentive Sales Manager, Helen Gallagher, was in the final shortlist of just three candidates, from the original 78, for the esteemed Frank Mullen Trust Scholarship.
