Balmoral Employees are a HIT

Eight talented employees at Rocco Forte's The Balmoral - Edinburgh's luxury five-star hotel - have been awarded a prestigious training scholarship by the Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland (HIT).

The Balmoral's employees will experience scholarships ranging from pure operational experience in establishments both at home and abroad. The scholarships include spending time at The Disney Institute in Florida, USA; a two-week structured training programme at the famous "seven-star" Burj Al Arab property in Dubai; designer scholarships; and the "Best of Scotland" operational scholarships.

HIT Scotland, the hospitality industry's trust, encourages and develops emerging talent within Scotland's hospitality industry by offering practical support through bursaries and work placements.

The Balmoral scooped eight out of the 78 scholarships on offer - marking the highest number of recipients for any one property - which supports The Balmoral's pledge as Scotland's premier hospitality employer.

HIT Chief Executive, David Cochrane commented: "The Balmoral has received HIT scholarships for the past two years, with this year being the highest amount for the five-star property. I was extremely impressed with the very high calibre of The Balmoral employees, and in fact, all nominees from The Balmoral did secure a HIT scholarship, including the coveted Disney and Dubai placements."

The Balmoral's General Manager, Debbie Taylor, added: "The outstanding HIT results for our employees supports our five-star approach to recruitment. We always aim to attract the best talent to The Balmoral, and then ensure we nurture and develop the skills of our talented and enthusiastic employees. I am delighted that so many members of my team will benefit from this excellent opportunity that HIT is offering. The Balmoral and Scotland's tourism industry can only stand to benefit from these world-class placements."
