A Round-Up of Awards for The Balmoral
Rocco Forte's The Balmoral is celebrating after winning the Scottish Hotel Innovation Award for its "Five-star Kids" programme at the recent HotelReviewScotland.com Awards, which were held on Sunday, 23 April 2006.
The criteria for this award included a new product or service that had demonstrated imagination, guest-focus and successful implementation.
The Balmoral launched its "Five-star Kids" programme last October. This unique service was the brainchild of General Manager, Debbie Taylor, who had noted a growing number of families staying at The Balmoral for both leisure and business purposes. The programme is designed to recognise children and make them feel extra special from the moment they arrive at The Balmoral. Highlights include kids' customised robes and slippers, a teddy turn down service, junior toiletries, Balmoral-branded rubber ducks for bath time and children's menus. The programme is proving to be a big hit with families: most recently The Balmoral looked after 40 children over Easter Weekend, with a wide range of children's treats and activities on offer.

The Balmoral always impresses us with the way that it constantly looks at how to maximise benefits from their facilities. The award joins the numerous accolades that The Balmoral has received in the last six months. These include the best wedding hotel and top third wedding location in the world in The Independent's Guide to the 50 Best Wedding Locations, and a Scottish Thistle Award for number one within the Flavour of Scotland category. In addition, the hotel was also recently placed on the shortlist for the upcoming World Travel Awards, which are due to be announced in September 2006. The Balmoral is shortlisted in two categories: Europe's best hotel and Scotland's leading hotel.
