The Balmoral - Event Awards

Rocco Forte’s The Balmoral is celebrating after winning Best In-House Catering or Banqueting Team at the inaugural Scottish Event Awards. The Balmoral picked up the coveted gong at glittering awards ceremony, which took place in Glasgow on Thursday night (4 September).

The Best In-House Catering or Banqueting Team award was open to all tourism and hospitality businesses throughout Scotland who could demonstrate the creative, innovative and unique catering concepts they had orchestrated and executed for its events.  The Balmoral was recognised for its five-star approach to its events – from intimate dinner parties through to large formal receptions – and its strategic planning, creativity and the resulting event. The judges cited this as a winning formula for a business that epitomises the luxury experience.

Ivan Artolli, General Manager commented: “I am delighted to receive such an award as it is a testament to my outstanding team who consistently deliver innovative, unique and bespoke events, with the greatest pride and enthusiasm. And it is also proof of the first class and award-winning fine-dining catering team we are so lucky to have. I am thrilled that we have been recognised as leaders in catering and banqueting, in such a competitive environment.”

The Balmoral boasts ten elegant conference and banqueting suites – many of which overlooking Edinburgh Castle – and can accommodate a wide range of events from intimate dinner parties and boardroom meetings to large receptions for up to 450 people. The extensive banqueting team is headed up by Banqueting Manager Renato Polo Del Vecchio who has 38 years experience in the industry – and is The Balmoral’s longest serving member of staff.

There is also the conference and banqueting kitchen with a team of chefs headed up by Michelin starred Executive Chef, Jeff Bland. Bespoke and tailor-made menus are created for every event, with food sourced fresh from local suppliers and meals prepared fresh on the day. The banqueting team is supported by an on-site events team, who co-ordinate the event from beginning to end to ensure a seamless banqueting service on the day(s) of the event.

The Balmoral has collected an impressive 23 accolades in less than six months. Top awards include a place on Condé Nast Traveler's Gold List within “The Best Hotels In The World For Location” and “Best Urban Day Spa in Scotland” in their Spa Awards, “Best Hospitality and Leisure Employer Award” at The Springboard Awards for Excellence and also collected a clutch of five awards at the Scottish Hotel of the Year Awards. The hotel was also delighted to retain its prestigious Michelin star for number one for the seventh year in a row.
